Do you like turn based strategy games?
Do you like Fire Emblem as a franchise?

If you answered yes to either of these questions GET THE FUCKING GAME!

Fire Emblem Awakening is the 3rd game of the FE saga I've ever played the other two being Shadow Dragon and Radiant Dawn and is one of the best games I think I've played in a long fucking time and the last time I ever said that was Project X Zone.

I was all geared up for another frustrating, but entertaining crusade like Shadow Dragon and Radiant Dawn little did I know the masterpiece that would await me

First off:
FINALLY
FUCKING FINALLY

The game comes with a "casual" mode that lets you turn off the permanent loss of your units.
No more frustrating deaths due to the game sticking the middle finger at you because it wanted to give the opponent a critical hit.

Furthermore with DLC, Wireless and sidequesting the game becomes SO MUCH LESS FRUSTRATING that you can gruelingly destroy enemies in your path in the main story with the real challenge being in the DLC and what a blast it can be quite honestly XD
Finally level grinding has been installed into Fire Emblem

This allows you to care less about the gameplay (though even then if you don't want to lose a unit strategy is a necessary key) and more about the AMAZING story that awaits you. Out of the three games I played, I prefer this one to all.

Also
o_o
Tiki? That you?

In Shadow Dragon the Manakete Tiki looked like this:

Now
well:

o_o
I don't care if the game only gives you Morgan as your kid. I will be making many babies with Tiki.

But enough talk like that for the moment,

To give a vague plot synopsis let's just say that the story of FEA is what you get if you combine the old Amnesiac gag for the main protagonist with the Android Saga from Dragon Ball Z, except there's 12 Trunks.
Oh and there's also a gigantic dragon that would put Acnologia to shame that wants to destroy the world

:iconofcourseplz:

But yeah, besides that, there are a few new mechanics introduced into this game, like pairing up with a unit allowing you to move two units at once and letting them fight side by side.
You also have a chance of your support unit jumping in to completely nullify damage from an enemy attack or rush in and strike to aid you in combat, which can be good for clearing the field and helps build relationships between characters

Speaking of relationships, that's another selling point of this game: the relationship up conversations (that and your main character can get married to ANYONE of the opposite sex)

It adds a level of depth to the series I didn't even see in Radiant Dawn where the relationships were a gimmick at best.

OH
AND
if you want to
you can summon characters from OTHER GAMES using Wireless via the "Outrealm" or as we call it on the internet Canon Welding

While you can't relationship up with these characters, nostalgia will probably have you bringing them into the field at some point if nothing else than to buy some items from them early on.

Shopping is a lot more effective and helpful in this game and 2 DLCS will make sure you have an endless supply of gold and EXP so that's nice. Another one will help you get early game master seals if you need them. Again, this is also nice :)

I've only played through the game once, but I'm nowhere near finished with it. There's a lot I still want to do if I aim to reach 100% completion or at the very least play through the game 5 times to get my maximum enjoyment that I think I can XD

I'll have a list of my favorite characters later, but Tiki and the main character Chrom are definitely going to be on it. As will be Erza Scarlet I mean Cordelia.
I'd put it in this journal, but I'm on a time crunch at the moment. I need to jump in the shower and then I have errands to run.

Ja ne!

Oh
PS: next game review will be Bravely Default.
