So I finally finished Inuyasha and what a rush it has been.
This is easily one of my favorite manga now. One of my top 5. I'll probably have to do a new top 50 list at some point since it's been a few months. Maybe after the next Claymore comes out

Anyway, here are my final thoughts
chapter 486 page 2: I keep forgetting she has a katana because she hardly uses it.

Now for the retrospective and the review
I ABSOLUTELY 100% RECOMMEND THIS MANGA FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T READ IT YET!
This is easily one of the best things I have ever read only falling short to Fate/Zero/Stay Night and Future Diary in terms of completion.
I have a few complaints, namely the double standard sexism that
will no doubt tell you about if you ask him and also the fact that along the way I feel that certain characters only tend to live due to plot armor (Kohaku being the biggest example)
Also I wish Kouga would have died rather than being allowed to just be written out of the story. The guy was introduced as a mass murderer so what the fuck?
I'm not all crazy about Kagome, but I am happy with the way the romance sub-plot turned out as it is easily one of my favorites. However, I only like HOW the plot constructed the two of them together. When it comes to pairings in Inuyasha I have to give it to Kagura/Sesshoumaru as my OTP because that god damn broke my heart. If I ever do any Inuyasha fanfics, most of them will involve trying to reunite those two.
Kikyou and Sesshoumaru are probably easily my two favorite characters in the whole saga with Kagura being a close third gods rest her poor soul.
Naraku is probably also the biggest asshole I have ever seen in the history of manga and anime, only beaten out by Douchebag McFucknuts.
Seriously, for all the evil Naraku did, at least he never tried to rape someone. ( I purposely left myself wide open to a sarcastic comment here. Go for it).
As for the series itself it is a very different kind of series and without a few things I never would've made it to the end, but I'm glad I did.
Inuyasha, while annoying at some parts to me, didn't piss me off or make me feel violated like Berserk
It wasn't stupid like One Piece
And it MADE SENSE as opposed to Bleach
It's very hard to actually review a long-runner like this since I've done so much commentary to it. In fact, consider that if I DO do commentary like this, that those are my thoughts on the series and at the end I'll pretty much give a verdict of good or bad.
The plot has no gimmick, but don't let that turn you away. Inuyasha deserves your attention if you haven't given it to it already.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm due for an orientation in a few hours.

Not to mention that unlike in Fairy Tail, Inuyasha actually treats its main villains with more respect and doesn't reduce them into pathetic jokes or have frequently lame, rushed anticlimatic battles all around because at least the fights with villains/antagonists like Sesshoumaru, Kagura, and the Band of Seven more than prove their worth in a fight and Naraku himself is one of the biggest evil bastards in all of anime/manga and suffice to say, he's hell of a lot better than Aizen in which he actually does have a good, logical, personal connection to all of the main heroes and has a decent back story for why he does the way he does and when he's hit with the armor piercing question of what he would do next after finally getting his wish in becoming a full demon, his reaction was natural and made sense.
As for who are my favorite characters in this series? I pretty loved all of them with possibly the exception of Shippo because my god, he annoys the living crap out of me! And plus, I am not a huge fan of Kagome myself but she's at least tolerable. I really like Inuyasha himself and unlike Natsu, he actually does have character development! Miroku is a completely lovable letch, Sango is badass and I find her pretty hot although what is up with her demon slaying outfit? Does it look slightly out of place in Feudal Japan? Kikyo is one of the most tragic and most interesting characters in this series and unlike Fairy Tail of where Lisanna was revived for absolutely no logical reason and as of now, she serves no logical purpose in the plot and is better off dead, Kikyo's revival is not pointless but instead actually serves an important purpose in the plot and that her revival actually made things much worse for our main heroes! Her complex relationship with Inuyasha and especially with her younger reincarnation Kagome provides a lot of neat tension.
What needs to be said of Naraku? He's a bastard and as for his incarnations that were born from his body, the one that stands out the most is Kagura and wow, she's the one who developed more personality and establishes her own identity away from Naraku and isn't it sad that none of his "children" are loyal to him? As for who are the best villains in Inuyasha outside of Naraku? I just happen to love the Band of Seven becase for a group of normal humans, their pretty badass in taking care of armies and powerful demons that there's no way that you would consider these guys normal humans!
Last but certainly not least is Sesshoumaru and wow, he takes being an antihero or rather antivillain to a whole new level! He's badass and takes names and he doesn't care what others think of him! I find his relationship with that little girl Rin to be quite adorable and is rather surprising that a powerful demon lord who hates humans would have a very unlikely friendship with that girl. Plus, I just happen to love to ship Sesshoumaru with Kagura and damn you Naraku for killing her! These two would make for a nice couple and who knows but I think Rin will take a strong liking to Kagura as well.
Overall, despite some flaws, I really had a great time getting invested in Inuyasha and I definitely wouldn't mind rewatcing it again in the near future.
